Abstract

Dense tungsten bronze Sr1.86Ca0.14NaNb5O15 piezoelectric ceramic is prepared by CO2 laser sintering method of 8 minute duration. Dielectric examination of permittivity disclose, the laser sintered ceramic second phase transition temperature (Ts) occurs at lower temperature than furnace sintered ceramic Ts. The observed XRD spectra indicate crystallographic orientation of the c-axes as being perpendicular to the laser beam. The laser sintered Sr1.86Ca0.14NaNb5O15 ceramic demonstrates piezoelectric properties for: maximum reached polarization and remnant polarization, Pm = 8.9 μC/cm2 and Pr = 3.1 μC/cm2, coercive field Ec = 10.1 kV/cm, electromechanical coupling coefficient k33 = 27%. The piezoelectric constant d33 = 93 pC/N.
